The bill of quantities is essential for the purpose of a competitive tendering. This is because they provide equal basis for all tenders. 4. 0 SCHEDULE OF RATES Schedule of rates is an integral part of a lump-sum contract without quantities. It has a little difference from the BOQ in that it contains no quantity and pricing column. Its only purpose is to furnish rates for valuation of variation which can occur in the course of the contract. 9. 0 FORM OF TENDER This is a standard letter containing blank spaces to be filled in by the contractor but addressed to the employer. The contractor also makes a declaration regarding the fact that he has read the conditions of contract and has also taken it into consideration in pricing the bill of quantities. 10. 0 CONCLUSION It is safe to say that all tenders must be carefully considered.
