Start with why
Why do we want to build consensus? Helps us make decisions Your teammates will have a wide range of understanding or perception about a problem Quality of solutions are better Consensus helps establish a common understanding and a framework for developing a solution that works for everyone Consensus building guarantees that all parties' interests will be protected. We want our teammates to buy in Everyone gets a say so everyone feels part of the team This allows stakeholders to make trade-offs between different issues, and allows the development of solutions that meet more peoples' needs more completely than decisions that are made without such widespread participation.
How will you build consensus? Examples: Bad Example https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=Y 4 Nt. SOz 8 Bx. I Good Example https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=Mc_h. UFOGLYg
When to build consensus When you have plenty of time The decision has a large impact You need the team’s buy-in Planning a new event Changing a process or procedure Switching up a committee
