Birth of BUFLA 2006 Bangladesh Unity Federation of Los Angeles (BUFLA) was formed by the unanimous vote of about 40 Community leaders representing 25 different Bangladeshi Organizations at the very 1 st meeting of BUFLA, which was held at Econo-Lodge Hotel Conference room, Los Angeles, California, on June 4, 2006.

BUFLA Mission BUFLA is a Federation of many different Bangladeshi Organizations of Greater Los Angeles Area in California, USA. BUFLA is the symbol of Unity among the healthy diversity of our multitalented community and beyond. BUFLA synergizes the mutual benefit of our great community through (1) Unity, (2) Charity, (3) Community development and (4) Bangladesh Day Parade, in order to lift up our motherland Bangladesh and our homeland USA.

BUFLA Goals 1. Unity: To promote Unity, Harmony and Discipline, and to synergize the mutual benefits among the multi-talented and healthy diversity of our Bangladeshi community in the greater Los Angeles area and beyond, and to lift up our motherland Bangladesh and our homeland USA in front of the broader Society of this great Nation. 2. Charitable projects locally and globally: ØBlanket distribution to the needy in winter ØDistribution of clothes and other necessary items to the needy and homeless ØFeed the homeless and needy ØDistribution of computers and other educational items to the needy students ØGrant scholarships for the needy and meritorious students of the community ØHold Health Clinic and Fair to educate and serve the members of the community ØOffer Family Counseling, arrange shelter for the victims of family violence. ØOffer financial help to needy families for burial expenses and grave-plot.

Bangladesh Day Parade: To display a Spectacular Annual Bangladesh Independence Day Parade and Festival on the last weekend of every March, on the major roads of Los Angeles, California, USA.

Haiti Earthquake Disaster in 2010 • On January 12 th, 2010 a devastating earthquake of magnitude 7. 0 M in Haiti killed between 100, 000 to 159, 000 people. Presidential Palace, National assembly building and many more were damaged. Many countries responded with humanitarian aid. BUFLA also donated money. That was the beginning of BUFLA charity work.

Savar building collapse Tragedy 2013 1127 people had died, over 1000 people lost their organs and limbs BUFLA Helped these 6 families with money

Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines 2013 6, 000 people died, over 30, 000 injured, homeless. One of the biggest tragedies of the world BUFLA donated money through a big 13 M$ Buddhist Charity Organization named Tzu Cho foundation.

Food Serving to LA Mission 2013 • BUFLA served 400 packs of warm delicious food to 400 homeless people and needy people at LA Mission.

BUFLA Health Clinic 2015 • BUFLA Health clinic started in 2013 and now continuing as an annual event for the good health of the community.

Clothes distribution to LA-Mission • A large number of boxes filled with used clothes were distributed to the LA Mission

Nepal Earthquake Victims Over 1, 000 people died in extreme human tragedy BUFLA Check to Red cross for Nepal Earthquake Victims

Helping Community Families in Distress • Farid Khan had massive heart attack and died in Long Beach in June, 2014. BUFLA arranged for fund raising and helped the family in deep distress

Helping Community Families in Distress • Abrar had cancer and this young boy of LA wanted to live, and even went to Mexica for an alternative treatment. He died in late 2014. BUFLA donated money for his cancer treatment.

Helping Community Families in Distress • Md Shafi (Haque) had stomach cancer and died on 21 -st February 2015. BUFLA did fund raising and helped his distressed family. He entertained our community many times with his humorous jokes and drama.

Helping Community Families in Distress Sumaiya – a 10 years old girl went to Bangladesh and got very sick. BUFLA helped with money for her treatment. A boy got stranded in Los Angeles and did not have the money to buy airline ticket to go to New York. BUFLA made instant fund raising in an EC meeting and paid for his plane ticket. Manju Mia of Los Angeles pased away in August, 2015. BUFLA paid part of the money to send his dead body to Bangladesh. BUFLA team also helped with some logistics of the situation

Shahnaj Rahman Shikrity Renowned artist of Bangladesh Shikrity has blood cancer. Shikrity said “I want to live for my 7 years old daughter”. BUFLA donated several thousand dollars for her treatment
