Benefits of sustainable tourism • There are many benefits of sustainable tourism such as: - Environmental protection – historic buildings and the environment are preserved for the future and entrance fees are used to provide further protection - Links with local community – facilities can be used by local people as well as tourists. Sometimes local residents are offered cheaper rates to visit attractions or attend events
Benefits of sustainable tourism • Reducing waste – recycling is very important in reducing waste. Water can be recycled with treatment plants • Cost savings – businesses can cut costs by recycling, using less energy, buying fewer new materials or selling old materials • Competitive edge and image – ‘Green’ reputation can be good for a business. Customers will choose some businesses due to their policies on sustainability.
