BTEC LEVEL 2 SPORT AWARD What will I Learn in BTEC PE 4 Units must be completed UNIT 1: ON-SCREEN TEST PREPARATION Content delivered through theory lessons. Past papers and exam style questions will be provided and you will receive feedback. Topics include: - Components of physical fitness - Components of skill-related fitness - Determining exercise intensity - Principles of training - Training methods for specific training - Fitness testing/tests UNIT 3: TRAINING FOR PERSONAL FITNESS (4 written assignments) Assignment 1: Designing a Personal fitness programme Assignment 2: The short term effects of exercise on the body Assignment 3: The Training Diary Assignment 4 : Review and Evaluate the Training Programme AND UNIT 6: LEADING SPORTS ACTIVITIES (3 written assignments) Assignment 1: The Roles and Responsibilities of a Sports Leader Assignment 2: Demonstrate the role of a Sports Leader Assignment 3: Review and Evaluate the leadership activity PROGRESS REVIEW EXAM The PRE for BTEC PE will only focus on the content of UNIT 1; FITNESS FOR SPORT. RESOURCES UNIT 2: PRACTICAL PERFORMANCE (3 written assignments) Students will study 5 sports in depth at school: Badminton, Basketball, Trampolining, Rounders, Football/Netball. In addition to Badminton, students choose another sport to be assessed in. The assessment criteria for both sports is: Assignment 1: Understand the rules, regulations and scoring systems. Assignment 2: Practically demonstrate skills, techniques and tactics in selected sports. Assignment 3: Observe and Analyse Sports Performance BTEC FIRST SPORT; STUDY & EXAM PRACTICE (can be loaned out by PE department!!) BTEC PE is more about just playing sport. Of the five BTEC PE lessons across a fortnight at least 3 of them will be in a classroom learning theoretical elements of practical sport or in a computer room preparing written coursework. The BTEC way of learning means that there will be a number of homework tasks and strict coursework deadlines! If you have been unable to bring your whole PE kit to lessons throughout KS 3 or are unable to work independently, sadly this course is not for you.
