BT MPLS - Ethernet update

Ethernet access to BT MPLS outside UK Two solutions for Ethernet access initially supported: Ø Direct fibre/point to point delivery over dedicated infrastructure. Similar to dedicated access line with no contention. Ethernet interface presentation. Ø Ethernet access over SONET/SDH 100 M , GE Ethernet Access initially supported Ethernet Access will only support DSCP Co. S (6 Level). Multiple VPN for BT Managed CPE will not be supported initially, planned for later release Resiliency: failover port supported via Special bid All MPLS ports are considered as ICB (Individual Case Basis) to allow capacity planning to adequately plan-out core network bandwidth and access port availability. Unbundled and bundled (Unisys / Cisco 7304) Leadtime ICB - this is currently assumed to be 90 days.

Ethernet access to BT MPLS – where? Strategy is to be able to support Ethernet access worldwide. Countries/Cities will be rolled out as Ethernet suppliers are found, supply commercial agreements are signed and PE routers deployed (73 xx on very limited locations and 10 k PE planned to start deployment in Q 1 2006 calendar). No capacity will be pre-provisioned therefore a special Bid approval is needed. Only Bids within the following countries will be analyzed (ability to deliver to individual customer building will be dependant upon individual supplier capabilities which may be restricted in certain cities): Australia Hong Kong Spain Belgium Ireland Sweden Denmark Japan Switzerland France Netherlands US, NY Germany Singapore

Ethernet access to BT MPLS – cost? Access prices: given the nature of the service, pricing is expected to be largely through the access bid process. Where 3 rd party Ethernet Access pricing is available as standard, Ethernet access prices will be obtained via APE. MPLS Port prices: same port prices independent on access type (I. e. 8 meg MPLS port is the same even if access is T 3/E 3 or 100 meg) Ethernet via dedicated fibre, where available, is significantly more cost effective than traditional circuits. Ethernet over SDH is similar price to SDH circuit. HOWEVER end to end solution to customer is cheaper as no extra interface card has to be built in the customer CPE to support Ethernet interface. ØTypical basic 7304 CE with 2 built in Ethernet interfaces is approx. 27 k USD ØExtra 17 k. USD would need to be added to basic CE router to support STM-1 access. ØExtra 25 k. USD to be added to basic CE router to support STM-4 access. ØAbove prices are assuming Cisco list prices.

Summary BT MPLS Enhanced UK Access uses UK MPLS (IP Clear) to provide UK access Provides UK sites with Ethernet, DSL and additional Leased Line access options throughout UK through a greater number of points of presence. Cost effective: Sub rate ports (10 M Ethernet), distance based pricing (Ethernet) and resilience access options (LL & Ethernet). Simplified sales order process (BT MPLS) Single BT MPLS Contract, Global Discount applicable to UK sites as part of global contract , multi-site Diet DCA, single set of reports, billing as per BT MPLS - 100 M, GE Ethernet Access supported, via bid, in 15 countries
