BRYC Football 2016 • Responsibilities of Weight Commissioners – Primary communications link between BRYC Commissioner and weight class coaches – Determine practice site at fields with other weight commissioners – Coordinate safety plan response – Develop evaluation drills and criteria – Recruit/assist Central and National coaches – Oversee player draft – Coordinate equipment needs for coaches

BRYC Football 2016 • BE POSITIVE! – Encourage players in a POSITIVE manner • These are children ages 7 -16, not little adults • We MUST remember players’ ages/abilities/maturity level when providing them instruction • Focus should be on learning and fun • Positive comments when correcting players • Positive comments when they do things right, too • NO personal attacks on players

BRYC Football 2016 • Practice Planning – Stress FUNdamentals* • Hand Placement, Footwork, Keeping Eyes in the hole (RBs), High and Tight (RBs), Zone Fundamentals (OL), DL Concepts (crossing face), Shedding Blocks and finding the ball (LBs and DBs), perfecting the QB/center exchange and extra Points! • Be physical – spend time working on strength (agilities and sled work/dummies) and contact – Football is a CONTACT sport! Match kids up with equal ability – don’t let the practice super star ruin your season! • Teach assignments/responsibilities on each play. It doesn’t matter if you have the unstoppable play if your kids don’t know who/how to block when they run it! *From Planning to Win! BRYC Football 2016 • Practice Planning – Keep players moving and interested in drills – Keep drills simple, game related and FUN • Explain, demonstrate with coaches/players, then go slow at first – Step 1, Step 2, then Step 3 • Emphasize quality in drills – Perfect practice makes perfect • Have contact every day – tackling/blocking or both – Offensive/Defensive Schemes • Make sure it will work with your players • Make sure players know what to do, how their job on each play is IMPORTANT to TEAMWORK!
BRYC Football 2016 • Practice Planning – Have a schedule and stick to it – Start/End practice at times stated • Parents/players expect this • Shows organization/preparation • Keeps you focused on schedule – Practice areas should be with input from ALL coaches – Coach on the run – keep things moving, but provide additional assistance to players during between drills as needed.
