Fox �Foxes are omnivores. �They eat other animals such as rabbits, hares, mice or birds as well as fruit and insects. �They live in dens in the ground. �They be found all over the world but are native to Britain which means they lived here first. �Foxes survive by using their brilliant hearing to listen for their prey. �Males are called ‘dogs’, females are called ‘vixens’ and their babies are called ‘pups’. �Foxes can be very quiet to sneak up o their prey.
Red Deer �Deer are herbivores �They eat shrubs, trees and grass. �They usually live in woodland or forests all across Europe. �In Britain they are found all over England in southern Scotland. �The Red deer is Britain’s largest species of land mammal. �In Devon we have Red deer, Roe deer, Fallow deer and Muntjac deer. �Red deer have reddish brown fur in summer and grey or back fur in winter. �The male deer are bigger and have antlers that can reach up to 1 m in width.
Seals �Seals live in the sea and on pieces of land called Rookeries. �They live all over the world but can be found in most places around the coastline of Britain. �Seals are fast in the water and slow on land. They swim more than they walk. �Seals survive in the water by having a layer of fat to keep them warm, flippers to help them swim and fur that is a bit like a wetsuit for keeping them warm. �Seal pups have fur that starts as black then changes to grey, silver then brown, black or grey when they are adults. �Seals are carnivores, they eat fish, squid and crabs.
