British Esports Championships I am very pleased to announce that details for the British Esports Championships are confirmed! Notton House will be competing with 7 other schools during terms 3 and 4. Kieran, Ben and Reagan will be representing their school.
What is esports? • Esports (electronic sports) is competitive video gaming. • Tournaments usually consist of amateur or professional gamers competing against one another for a cash prize. • Esports is classified in the UK as a game and not a sport (similar to the likes of chess and bridge). www. britishesports. org
Who are we competing against? The British Esports Association, the not-for-profit body set up to promote grassroots esports, has announced new Rocket League Championships for Alternative Provision (AP) Schools. This standalone esports tournament will get underway in the New Year and focus on Rocket League, with matches taking place weekly. Other schools are: • • The Green Room, Windsor, Berkshire The Gateway, Slough, Berkshire Millside School, Slough, Berkshire Glebe School, Bromley, Kent Sheffield Inclusion Centre (SIC), Sheffield, Yorkshire Nightingale Community Academy, Wandsworth, London Orchard Hill College, Sutton, Surrey
What game are we playing? The boys need to get busy practising for the fixtures. We will have about a week after the holidays before our new gaming PCs are delivered and set up and then a further week before the first fixture. www. rocketleague. com
