Which path should I take? JC Poly ? West Spring Secondary School

It is safer to select a combination to keep all options open Consider your child’s interest and ability Look at overall load - Academic subjects - Demands of each subject - CCA grade (Leadership, Service to Community, Participation) Polytechnics JCs ELR 2 B 2 26 L 1 R 5 20 Relevant 2 – course dependent R 1 - Humanities R 2 - Math/Sci EL A 1 to C 6/D 7 MA A 1 to C 6/D 7 EL A 1 to C 6 MA A 1 to D 7 MT Requirement CCA bonus points HMT bonus points West Spring Secondary School

It is hard to score in some subjects. Consider your child’s aptitude and learning style Subjects with Coursework (D&T, F&N, Art) Portfolio for EAE/Polytechnic for Media; Design; Architecture; Landscape; Engineering etc West Spring Secondary School

Need to do triple science/ need to do Biology to go into medical/ life science related fields STEM related fields are ‘out’ if I don’t do A Math Research together with your child - ‘Update’ our knowledge - Multiple pathways West Spring Secondary School

DO DON’T • Choose subjects that align with their interests, abilities, education and career goals • Confident of obtaining optimum grades using the subject combination • Blindly follow others (eg. . Siblings, friends) • Go for ‘safe’ options • Go for ‘prestigious’ options West Spring Secondary School
