Why is pledge education changing? Alpha Kappa Psi is constantly reviewing its programs and events to ensure the quality of the programming and education is suiting the needs of its members and keeping up with the changing needs of higher education and corporate industry. Fraternal Exam The Fraternal Exam is online and there is no limit on retakes. Quizzes are for the pledge's learning and should not be used as a disciplinary tool. It will be administered before Mid -Term Interview and pledges must pass it by Court of Honor. The anthem and creed portion of the Fraternal Exam is administered orally. Rituals The Mid-Term Interview is a professional interview experience designed to prepare pledges for an actual job interview. Court of Honor is a presentation and focuses on reflection. Elective Bank Design • Electives allow chapters to add activities specific to their university or culture. Brother Interviews Formal Interviews: Informal Interviews: • 30 minutes long; approximately 2 per week • 15 – 20 Minutes long; approximately 4 per week • Must be 1: 1 interviews. • Must be no more than 2 pledges and 2 members at a time. • The chapter provides a list of brothers available to interview with their contact information. • The chapter provides a list of brothers available to meet with their contact information. • Interviews are professionally coordinated (by formal email or phone introduction) by the pledge with the member. The process is taught at the Induction Module. • Interviews can be set up via phone or email, or in person. • The focus is on building a fraternal network as opposed to interviewing skills. • The focus is on the interview process as opposed to brother networking. • Brothers should ask the pledges questions to simulate an interview experience, but be prepared for pledges to ask them questions as well. • After the interview, pledges must send a formal thank you email to the brother, copying the pledge educator for verification of completion. Program Syllabus The Program Syllabus is required of all chapters to report the pledge program and electives. Starting with Induction and ending with New Brother Orientation, the Program Syllabus takes fraternity educators through each aspect of the program to help plan a pledge education program tailored to the needs of the incoming pledges within the given parameters.
