BRENTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL BRENTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING PRESENTATION II: 2020 -2021 Why was FULLY ONLINE instruction extended for one week? Equipment was needed for the transition to synchronous instruction with students in the classroom. Training was required for the teaching staff.
BRENTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL BRENTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING PRESENTATION II: 2020 -2021 Instructional Plan beginning Monday, February 8, 2021 Students who wish to return in-person will have the option to do so under the hybrid model. Students with last names A-L will be in-person on Mondays and Thursdays. Students with the last names M-Z will be in-person on Tuesdays and Fridays. When students are NOT physically in the buildings, they will attend ALL of their classes synchronously and instruction will be presented “live” by the teachers. For example, students who attend in-person on Mondays and Thursdays will attend live synchronous classes on Tuesdays and Fridays. All students who remain “fully remote” will attend the live synchronous classes as scheduled. Students will continue to use the “Live Synchronous Instruction” button on each course’s Canvas page to access the “live” instruction. Wednesdays will remain “asynchronous” for ALL students.

BRENTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL BRENTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING PRESENTATION II: 2020 -2021 Wait a minute, didn’t you guys say in the last webinar that you didn’t want students in front of a screen for 6 hours? Yes, we said that, BUT… In January, all students were forced to be fully remote with the voluntary closure. Families now have the opportunity to be back in-person if they choose. Families who are choosing to remain FULLY ONLINE have expressed a desire for more synchronous instruction.
BRENTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL BRENTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING PRESENTATION II: 2020 -2021 What Families Can Do To Help Us in Making Students More Successful Remember to charge Chromebooks EVERY night. In-Person students are to bring/use their Chromebooks EVERY day. Make sure students log into their classes on time (very distracting to the teacher to admit late students once class has begun). Students are required to remain in class for the entire period unless directed by the teacher to leave the meeting.
BRENTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL BRENTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING PRESENTATION II: 2020 -2021 Appropriate Use of Technology Students should have their cameras on during synchronous instruction. Students being seen and engaged in the lesson is very important to the teaching and learning process. The equipment and the software should be used for school purposes and “school appropriate” activities and communication. Students should be using their Chromebooks to engage in the lesson that is being taught. Misuse of district supplied technology could result in the loss of privileges.
BRENTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL BRENTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING PRESENTATION II: 2020 -2021 Classes and Courses that Will Not Be Synchronous Physical Education will remain asynchronous. Study Halls, Tutorials, and Support Study Halls. All students have a lunch period in their schedule. Wednesdays will remain asynchronous for all students.
BRENTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL BRENTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING PRESENTATION II: 2020 -2021 Safety for Students, Teacher and Staff Masks are required and need to be worn properly. Social Distancing and following directions for safety in the classrooms, hallways, common areas, and cafeteria is of great importance. Sanitizing/Washing hands as often as possible. Note: As more students return to in-person instruction, we may not be able to guarantee 6 -feet of distance between students. Please take this into consideration as you make your decision as a family.
BRENTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL BRENTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING PRESENTATION II: 2020 -2021 Steel Center for Career and Technical Education (CTE) Students SCCTE is operating a 4 -day schedule that began on Monday, February 1, 2021. Students will follow their SCCTE schedule and hybrid students at Brentwood HS will report to their in-person classes on their assigned days, and will login to the live classes as scheduled. Remote students at both schools may remain remote.
