Ensures that no product can be sold in that country and labeled as e. g. “Bourbon” without being produced: 1) in the United States and 2) in accordance with U. S. laws and regulations • Important tool to ensure “bad actors” in overseas markets do not benefit from the prestige and quality of genuine U.
