BRD Proprietary Information BRD PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS l l l In May 2004, the Go. R empowered BRD to be the Financier of Rwanda’s development. The BRD then translated its mission into a strategic operating plan approved by Cabinet in May 2005. This Strategic Operating plan called for ambitious financial targets and a significant overall of the Bank’s internal operations. BRD strategic plan is built around Rwanda s Vision 2020 objectives and our reason of being is to make Vision 2020 a reality. Growth in BRD lending will have enormous benefits to the Rwandan economy especially in: – Job creation: the bank’s investments could produce 50, 000 jobs over the 4 year period; – Increased exports: if BRD’s investment targets are achieved, its investments will raise the level of exports by over RWF 30 billion. – Household income: FOREDEM’s activities are estimated to increase household incomes by over RWF 3 billion and benefit 150, 000 households. BRD Proprietary Information BRD May 2006 Report Other socio-economic benefits BRD approved projects will create 637 new jobs, 905 part time jobs and maintain 1, 101 jobs BRD financing in the coffee sector will contribute to export receipts of around $ 4 Million FOREDEM intervention will create good impact to around 22, 882 beneficiaries of agriculture sector of which 14, 870 are clients of MFI refinanced by FOREDEM and 8, 011 are members of cooperatives. The added value expected are RWF 15 Billion for DDI approved projects.
