MAP OF BRAZIL Brazil is in South America. Brazil is bordered by Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru Colombia, Guyana and Venezuela are the surrounding countries o Brazil is the fifth most-populous country on Earth. The capital city is Brasília.
CITIES • Most Brazilians live in urban centres. • The biggest cities are Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília and Salvador. • The cities are know for the favelas, the housing area where the poor people live.

THE AMAZON RIVER 1. The Amazon River is the widest and largest river in the world. 2. It flows from its source Nevado Mismi in Peru to the Atlantic coast of Brazil. 3. Along the way it is joined by about 1, 100 tributaries. [branches]
THE AMAZON RAINFOREST 1. The Amazon rainforest is a beautiful place that is full of unique animals, millions of miles of trees and rare species of plants and bugs some that haven’t even been discovered. 2. This stunning rainforest gives us so much more than interesting plants and animals to learn about, it also gives the Earth a lot of its oxygen. 3. Every second humans destroy an area of rainforest the size of a football field. 4. In 2019 a lot of the Amazon rainforest was destroyed by wildfire.
CARNIVAL A famous holiday in Brazil is called Carnival. Which is a week of parades and celebrations that takes place 46 days before Easter every year. The Samba is a kind of music, dancing and singing originally from Brazil. It began as a music/dance movement in the 1920 s.
SPORT • Soccer – Brazil have won the world cup 5 times. They hosted the 2014 world cup. There are lots of very famous footballers from Brazil, like Pelé, Ronaldo, and Roberto Firmino. • Brazil hosted the 2016 Olympic Games. • Formula One – the formula one racetrack in Brazil is called Interlagos. Some famous Brazilian race drivers are Nelson Piquet, Emmerson Fattopaldi. Another famous driver was Ayrton Senna, he died when his race car crashed during the Italian Grand Prix in 1994
FOOD • Brazilians love their fresh fruits and vegetables such as okra, coconut corn, and beans. • Many traditional dishes contain beans, rice's or manioc flour. • The most favourite dish in Brazil is probably feijoada, a bean stew made with pork and rice.
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS 1. Copacabana beach. 2. Capivara National park is known for ancient rock paintings. 3. Christ the Redeemer is a statue of Jesus Christ at the summit of Mount Corcovado, Rio de Janeiro. It stands 30 metres tall and its horizontally outstretched arms span 28 metres
OTHER THINGS I HAVE LEARNT • The killer bee was created in a laboratory in Brazil by mixing European honeybees with African bees, so that they could have a bee that made more honey. Instead, out came a very angry bee. • Clever Brazilian Dolphins For years and years fishermen in south east Brazil have used dolphins to herd fish towards their waiting nets, even flicking their heads to show that the trap is ready.
