Spyware �Spyware is a software that helps get information about someone without them knowing and can give it to someone else. Spyware also keeps track of what people are doing on the internet. Certain programs can be used to get rid and prevent spyware from happening.
Worms � They replicate themselves so that they can move to other computers. They usually spread from a computer network relying on security failures to be able to enter the computer. Computer worms disrupt things on the computer increasing the traffic on the internet and other effects. To prevent worms, never click on links or attachments in an email from someone you cannot trust, install an anti-spyware program, and beware of internet pop-ups.
Adware �Adware is a software that automatically makes ads so that the author can get more attention. It shows which internet sites the user is visiting so that you know where to put the advertisement. You could then click on the advertisement and the author could mess with your computer. Don’t click on ads or popups on the internet to prevent adware.
Hacking � Someone who hacks is called a hacker. A hacker finds weaknesses in your computer and uses that to get in. They can then mess everything up inside your computer. To prevent hacking, update softwares for your operating system and web browser, change passwords often (about every month), and install programs to prevent hacking. There also a lot of programs you can download to stop hacking.
Phishing � Phishing is someone that sends emails to people to get their identity. They could pretend to be a real company. They try to get usernames, passwords, credit card details, etc. To prevent phishing, be extremely cautious about emails from people you don’t know, be careful about links in emails, and never give them personal information. If someone gets your information, they can steal money and identity.
