LEARNING GOAL The SIT team at Boswell has 10+ years experience. Our current goals are to provide improved ways to continue this work while brining new staff members along. This session will include ideas on how to implement, organize and sustain a Tier 2 Team at the intermediate elementary level.

TIER 1

WHAT IS TIER 2 ? ? Most students will respond to the Tier 1 level of support. However, some students will still exhibit some specific difficulties and need further intervention. These students will then move to Tier 2 interventions can be effective in working with students at-risk for academic and/or behavioral concerns.

STUDENT INTERVENTION TEAM Core Boswell SIT Team Members: Administrator 4 th grade teacher 5 th grade teacher SPED Teacher Counselor Tier 1/Tier 2 Crossover Title 1 Reading Teacher This team meets every Tuesday during the school year from 3: 15 -4: 15

TIER 2 - STUDENT INTERVENTION TEAM Qualifications for Students to enter Tier 2 - Excessive loss of privileges for behavior and/or academic work - Three Majors (office referrals) - Use of a buddy classroom for 2 whole days per week - Excessive absences in a Quarter - D’s or F’s at Quarter - Bus Referrals

SWEET AND SIMPLE 1. All students with a D or F for quarter need to be seen by the SIT team. 2. Bring the student's cumulative folder with you to SIT team. 3. You don't have to bring students that have already been to SIT, unless there is still an issue. 4. Students with extreme attendance issues, behavior problems, or bus issues are also seen by the SIT team. 5. All 504 students go the Greg or Landon first. 6. If you can not attend your scheduled time, it is your responsibility to contact Jamie or Rachelle.

NEW STAFF ON BOARDBEGINNING OF THE YEAR August • Back to school meeting introduce Tier 2 process to all staff • Choose a new staff member to join the CORE Team September • Initial meeting with individual teams on plan time to discuss process of bring students • SIT team begins meeting on Tuesdays

NEW STAFF ON BOARDMID YEAR October-February • Weekly meetings with teaching teams per their assigned night. • Concerns on student who are eligible for retention • Continued monitoring of previous students brought to the CORE team

NEW STAFF ON BOARDEND OF YEAR March-May • SIT meetings held weekly on an as need basis • Additional CORE SIT Team Meetings • PRIDE Program selection- Intervention program at the Middle School Level that is selected by our CORE SIT team

STUDENT INTERVENTION MEETINGS SIT Team will meet with Boswell teaching teams consisting of four or five classroom teachers. Each teaching team will bring those students that meet the criteria listed in the flow chart. Students will be monitored monthly at the SIT meeting.

SIT –DATA COLLECTION This form is what the SIT team uses to collect data. It allows the team to keep track of students that are brought as well as what intervention have been put in place.

STUDENT INTERVENTION REFERRAL FORM This form is completed by the classroom teacher. It provides detailed information about the student such as grades , reading level, social areas of concern, and classroom intervention done prior to SIT referral .

CONCLUSION…. . A small percent of students will need further intervention and will move on to Tier 3. At Boswell that looks like the following: • FBA/BIP • 504 • IEP
