PROBLEM STATEMENT • The long 132 k. V network is no longer able to provide adequate reliability and quality of supply to meet growing demand for electricity in the far north or Polokwane North area. • The existing transmission network (Tabor MTS near Matoks & N 1 toll gate) is fed from Witkop MTS in Polokwane via a relatively weak 275 k. V network. • Tabor MTS then distributes via a long 132 k. V distribution network. • It is therefore necessary to establish a big/strong transmission injection point (MTS), supplied at 400 k. V to distribution locally in the Nzhelele and surrounding areas using shorter 132 k. V lines which results in much improved reliability and quality of supply for the area. 3
PROPOSED SOLUTION • Establish Nzhelele (Bokmakierie) MTS in order to strengthen the electrical supply in the Makhado, Musina and surrounding areas • The new MTS will be fed via a 400 k. V Borutho-Nzhelele 250 km power line and • Via a 400 k. V Tabor-Nzhelele 110 km power line. • All this are required by 2017 4
