Single, Not Double Single stack book trucks Do not double stack book trucks Double stack, double weight difficult to maneuver Centered, not to the edge
What’s wrong with this book truck load? Orange books are double stacked. Books in the middle are on their fore-edge, not on their spine. The books on the yellow books shouldn’t be there. The yellow books should be centered, not to the edge.
To Push, Not Pull Push rather than pull, book trucks Always be alert of your surroundings Do not pull Fish tailing Only exceptions: Pull book trucks on & off elevators Swinging doors
One Wheel at a Time ELEVATORS: Pull (not push) book trucks on & off Turn the book truck at a right angle Pull over one wheel at a time Keep an eye on books as you pass each wheel over
Correct or Wrong? This is wrong. This student should pull the truck out at a angle, pulling one wheel out at a time.
This is the correct method Pulling the book truck out at an angle, one wheel at a time.
Always be alert of your surroundings
Let it Fall Damaging or not, you should always let a book truck fall Move out of the way as quickly as possible Watch your feet & hands as much as possible
No Horse Playing
Do Fill each level on truck fully Load truck with the bottom shelf first Center the books on each level Use proper book truck handling techniques Use common sense when transporting books Always be alert of your surroundings Push from one end Be careful when entering or leaving elevators Distribute weight evenly Do Not Double stack trucks Overload trucks Try to stop a falling truck Load the weight on one side Push book trucks from the sides Pull book trucks (except for elevators or swinging doors) Handle two book trucks at one time Climb or sit on book trucks Take book trucks down a ramp alone
