Choosing a Book Text Requirements Journaling Must be over 200 pages. Four progress journals total, 1 per benchmark. Can't be a movie or TV series. Journals are submitted to turnitin. com by due date listed on Mr. Putnam’s website. Journals should be 1 -2 paragraphs in length, demonstrating paragraph structure & adherence to standard English conventions.
Book Journals Reflection on Events – 5 points Who and what is involved in this section? Where does the action take place? When? Which events, ideas, or people does the author emphasize? Identify and describe in detail one event idea, or person that this section focuses on. Be sure to make direct textual references and explain them. Speculate on why the author focuses on this detail / these Character Development – 3 points details. Identify one way in which one of the characters changed or developed as a result of events in the novel. Explain the implications or consequences of this character’s actions. Questions I Have, Predictions I Can Make – 5 points What happened in this section that raised questions for you? Explain with references from the text. What predictions can you make based on the events in this section? Explain with references from the text. Connection to My Experience – 2 points Close your journal by attempting to make a connection to your own life and experience. Relate something from your past or present life situation to the events unfolding in your novel. Explain how the events in the novel are similar to your own experience.
