Bonitas Medical Fund 2018 Benefit and Contribution Changes Dear BCX Bonitas Member This communication provides a summary of the most important changes to the Bonitas Medical Fund, effective 1 January 2018, based on the information provided by Bonitas at their recent Corporate Launch. Contents Most important changes for 2018 Out-of-hospital tests and specialist consultations for PMB’s will be paid from risk on the: § Standard • Standard Select and • Primary options. The sublimit for specialised drugs for retinal disorders will increase on from R 42 000 to R 50 000 on: • Bon. Comprehensive • Bon. Classic Increase on corneal graft limit from R 22 000 to R 30 000 on the following plans: • Bon. Classic • Standard and Standard Select • Bon. Complete and • Bon. Save Specialised radiology benefit of R 15 000 introduced on the Bonfit and Bon. Essential option Bariatric and breast reduction surgery will now be excluded on all Bonitas options. Cap Medical Savings Account Savings contributions as a percentage of total contributions have remained unchanged and are as follows: 8. 7% 7. 9% Primary Bonsave Bon. Fit Plan Bon. Comprehensive MSA% 19% Bon. Classic 14% Bon. Complete 15% Bon. Save 16% Bon. Fit 15% Traditional Options Benefits are pure in scheme benefits with no MSA allocation Standard Select Primary
Product updates for 2018 o A separate benefit for contraceptives will be added to all options o New born hearing screening tests will be covered on all options (in or out of hospital) o Screening for congenital hypothyroidism will be covered for new born dependents on all options o The family limit for the Wellness Extender will increase by 15% and children under 18 will no longer be required to complete the Health Risk Assessment to access the benefit o Out-of-hospital tests and specialist consultations for PMBs paid from risk on Standard, Standard Select and Primary o Pap smears for women over 21 years will be extended to Bon. Essential and Bon. Cap 1 o Mammogram Executive Plan Enhancements screenings for women over 40 will be extended to Bon. Save and Primary o Bone Density Screenings (available on Bon. Classic and Bon. Comprehensive) will now be available to men aged 70 and over o A generous dentistry benefit package paid from risk will be added to Bon. Fit o An unlimited terminal healthcare benefit on all options 2 o The. Plan corneal graft limit on Bon. Comprehensive, Bon. Classic, Standard, Smart Bon. Complete and Bon. Save will increase from R 22 000 to R 30 000 Enhancements Standard Select, o The sublimit for specialised drugs for retinal disorders will increase from R 42 000 to R 50 000 on Bon. Comprehensive, Bon. Classic and Hospital Plus o An internal prosthesis benefit of R 30 000 per family (excluding joint replacement prosthesis) will be introduced to Bon.
