2020 • according to Eurostat people over age 60 will constitute almost 25 % of the population of Polish society 2030 • according to the Central Statistical Office of Poland number of people aged 85 years or more may reach almost 800 thousand

The possibility of development and self-realization Universities of the third age have been establishing in Poland since 1975 by universities, local government units foundations and associations. Forms of assistance in the living environment - in the social welfare system In 2014 in the Voivodeship of Silesia were been working 48 daily nursing houses. In 2014 in the Voivodeship of Silesia with the care services benefited 9. 212 people, including approx. 8. 500 the elderly. * MPi. Forms of assistance in the living environment - in the social welfare system In 2014 the Voivodeship of Silesia had 42 environmental self-help houses for persons with mental disorders. In Chorzow set up the first branch in the region for a group of people with Alzheimer's disease.

For the elderly and chronic somatic diseases services are provided by 51 nursing houses that is half of all registered homes in the voivodeship. Forms of assistance in the living environment - in the social welfare system The Voivodeship of Silesia has registered 61 providing full-time care facilities for persons with disabilities, the chronically ill of the total number of seats 1. 845. Three of them take only the elderly, and the other both elderly and people with disabilities.

The multiannual program "Senior - WIGOR " for the years 2015 -2020 INTEGRATION KNOWLEDGE DIGNITY PHISICAL ACTIVITY CARE

Program „Senior – Wigor” The Council of Ministers adopted the multiannual program "Senior - WIGOR " for the years 2015 – 2020 on 17 th March 2015. That program assumes a founding the daily nursing houses called „Senior – Vigor” through financial support to governments in implementing their own tasks. The aim of the program is improving the quality of life of older people through enabling them to benefit from a wide range of care, educational, cultural and recreational. On the implementation of the programme provided support to local governments in the total amount of 370 million zł (30 million zł in 2015).
