Nervous System Click the brain to learn more! Main Menu
What is the Nervous System? The basic function of the nervous system is to send signals from one cell to the other, or from one part of the body to others • It is made up of two parts, the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system • • Central Nervous System: controls most functions of the body and mind. • Peripheral Nervous System: connects the central nervous system to environmental stimuli to gather input and create motor output Back Learn about the organs
What Organs make up the Nervous System? • Central Nervous System: • Brain • Spinal Cord • Retina • Peripheral Nervous System: • Sensory Neurons • Ganglia • Nerves Back Main Menu
Respiratory System Click the lungs to learn more! Main Menu
What is the Respiratory System • Function is to breathe in air, absorb oxygen into the bloodstream, and breathe out carbon dioxide • The respiratory system works in conjunction with the circulatory system • Fresh oxygen first goes into the lungs and then into the left side of the heart • It is then pumped by he heart into the bloodstream • Blood the carries carbon dioxide into the right side of the heart, then it is pumped by the lungs where it is then breathed out Back Learn about the organs
What Organs make up the Respiratory System? • Nose • Pharynx • Larynx • Trachea • Bronchi • Lungs • Right lung and Left Lung • Upper, Middle, and Lower Lobes Back Main Menu
Circulatory System Click the heart to learn more! Main Menu
What is the Circulatory System? • The function of the circulatory system is to provide the flow of blood, nutrients, hormones, oxygen, and other gases to and from cells. • It is made up of three independent systems • Heart (cardiovascular) • Lungs (pulmonary) • Arteries, veins, coronary, and portal vessels (systemic) Back Learn about the organs
What organs make up the Circulatory System? • Heart • Blood Vessels • Arteries • Veins • Capillaries • Blood • • Red blood cells White blood cells Platelets plasma • Lungs Back Main Menu
Digestive System Click on the stomach to learn more! Main Menu
What is the Digestive System? • The function of the digestive system is digestion and absorption. Digestion is the break down of food into small molecules which is then absorbed into the body. • In animals, there are two types of digestive systems: ruminant and monogastric. (There will be more information about this later) Back Learn about the organs
What organs make up the digestive system? • Mouth • Throat • Esophagus • Stomach • Small Intestine • Colon (large intestine) • Rectum • Anus Back Main Menu
