Body Cavities: Spaces within the body which contain vital organs
Dorsal (Posterior) Cavity: 1. Cranial Cavity contains the brain 1. Vertebral/Spinal Cavity = contains the spinal cord
Ventral (Anterior) Cavities: 1. Thoracic Cavity heart in pericardial cavity, lungs in pleural cavities, mediastinum - region between lungs from sternum to backbone contains esophagus, trachea, etc.
Ventral (Anterior) Cavities: 2 a. Abdominal Cavity stomach, liver, small intestine, most of large intestine - also contains spleen & gallbladder 2 b. Pelvic Cavity urinary bladder, large intestine, rectum, male/female reproductive organs

Epigastric Region • Contains stomach, liver (and some of large intestine)
Umbilical Region • Contains small intestine, large intestine (and some of the stomach)
Hypogastric Region • Contains small intestine, rectum, urinary bladder, reproductive organs, (and some of large intestine)
Right & Left Lumbar Regions • Contains part of small and large intestines
Left Inguinal Region • Contains part of small and large intestines
Right Inguinal Region • Contains appendix, part of small and large intestines
Right & Left Hypochondriac Regions • Right Hypochondriac contains liver (and part of stomach) • Left Hypochondriac contains spleen (and part of stomach)
