Bobbin Mill Brook Water Quality in an Urban
Bobbin Mill Brook - Water Quality in an Urban Watershed Anabel Schmelz, Megan Kearns, Anne Rockwell 10 December 2013
Our Goals Research impervious surface mitigation plans and storm water management Identify sources and entryways of pollution into the brook i. e. stormwater runoff channels Look at potential sites to implement BMPs GIS mapping Water quality testing Scholarly research
Why do we care about stormwater runoff? Increased development and population growth leads to urban stormwater runoff Impervious surface Definition: refers to all hard surfaces like paved roads, parking lots, roofs, and even highly compacted soil like sports fields Leads to faster flow rates and higher volumes in streams
