BOARD MEETING 27 April 2017 Chief Executive’s Report Nicola Lees, Chief Executive Purpose of this Report: To update Board members on national, regional and local issues, announcements relating to mental health, learning disability and community health services, and Chief Executive level discussions within the local health economy. Recommendations That the Board: • Notes the Five Year Forward View next steps and the changes reuqired to the structure and governance arrangements of the West Yorkshire and Harrogate STP Previous meetings/committees where the report has been considered: Executive Management Team Risk issues identified for discussion: Board members will want to identify any risks emerging from the content of the paper, and how new issues and challenges across the NHS might affect BDCFT. Any emerging issues may be taken forward through individual discussions with Directors outside Board meetings or suggesting a future paper to the Board or its Committees. SPA (Royal Society of the Prevention of Accidents) Awards 2017: I’m very pleased to tell you that the Trust has achieved its 3 rd successive Gold Ro. SPA Award. Congratulations to our Estates and Facilities team, and to all those involved! BMDC (Bradford Met. District Council) • At its meeting on 6 April 2017, the Health Overview & Scrutiny Committee received the Bradford Suicide Audit and Prevention Plan. The Trust has been involved, and endorsed this through the mental health and wellbeing board. The Trust is responsible for a number of actions under the direction of Debra Gilderdale, Director of Operations & Nursing. View all papers Operation plan 2017/19: On 10 th April, the Trust published its operational plan for 2017/19. The plan sets out key service developments across Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven for the next two years. Read More Airedale NHS Foundation Trust • Parking charges at Airedale Hospital to increase from 18 April 2017. • ANHST is withdrawing inpatient services at Castleberg Hospital, following issues with the building, pending an options appraisal. This has no impact on the Care Trust. • New butterfly trollies will help vulnerable patients living with dementia. This means that there will be a stronger focus across West Yorkshire and within BDCFT on mental health and primary care. We will see expanded multidisciplinary teams as primary care, LA and community services work closer together. We will see a continued expansion of IAPT services and an increase in Tier 4 CAMHS beds across West Yorkshire. Bradford City and District Clinical Commissioning group: • Shadow ministerial visit to inner city GP practice Read More June 2016 saw see the Trust’s first ever festival at Lynfield Mount Hospital, to celebrate music and arts, and the positive effects they can have on mental well-being for all; and I am thoroughly delighted to tell you that this fantastic Service User led Project was awarded a 2017 National Service User Award at the NSUA gala ceremony on 19 April. Twitter followers and Facebook likes continue to grow. Whilst unique visitors are down on the website this month, we continue to see a reduction in the bounce rate this month (more people moving across the site, viewing more pages).
