Grades and Exams n n n The terrible news: There will be three exams: two midterms and one final (cumulative). If you miss an examination you must contact me before or immediately after the exam. If you have a VALID reason for missing the exam, your grade on the final will replace the grade from the missed exam, otherwise you will receive zero.
More terrible news n n n n n Homeworks and in-class work 40% Midterm 1 20% Midterm 2 20% Final Exam (cumulative) 20% Project 1 Tuesday Dec 29 th Midterm 1 Wednesday Dec 30 th Midterm 2 Wednesday Jan 6 th Project 2 Monday Jan 11 th Final Exam Tuesday Jan 12 th
Just a reminder n All exams and quizzes are closedbook and closed-note. Cheating will NOT be tolerated. Anyone caught cheating or attempting to cheat on any exam or quiz will fail the class.
Lecture Notes n The course is self-contained: n n This means that if you come to class everyday and pay attention to really understand the concepts and do some work at home on your notes you will get an A in this course. No book is required. Most of my presentations on ppt will be available on Blackboard. So you only have to take complementary notes about my slides.
n n That should be enough material to do well in the exams. However, if you want to have a textbook as reference I recommend Financial Economics by Bodie, Merton and Cleeton.
More boring details n Office Hours n n After class Or by appointment. We can meet also before class but send me an email first.
A very important thing n n Feel free to ask questions about the course material. Also feel free to use the office hours so you don’t let all your questions for the review sessions before the exams.
Contents of the course n 1. Strategic Behavior n n Demand supply Market structures Normal form games 2. Financial Markets I n n n Financial markets and institutions Allocating resources over time Project sensitivity analysis
n 3. Financial Markets II n n n Market valuation Bonds Risk Futures Options
