Blues TPSP Project By Geoffrey Lore
Question? Is the pop music and or other modern music that we have today an evolved form of the older 1900 and 1800’s blues or is this new music a whole new concept?
How I did my Project To answer this question I started by researching the origin and start of the blues and working my way up through time and evolution of this music • To do this I used many interactive timelines and interviews with key musician figure to find out where their influences came from •
What is the Blues? the blues is defined as melancholy music formed from african descent that is normally played in a 12 bar pattern The Blues talks of sadness and struggles in life such as poverty
The History of the Blues • • • In 1867 the first of songs written by slaves are published In 1903 a man is seen playing a guitar with a knife at a Mississippi train station 1912 the first blues song was recorded, “Memphis Blues”, by W. How the Blues Evolved Electric Guitar debuted in 1939 when used by Eddie Durham • In 1952 B. B King Becomes the first to famously play rhythm and blues • In 1964 The British Invasion occurred and many famous figures that were later to be known as rock bands became famous such as the rolling stones and the beatles • • After this British invasion rock and roll was born, this blues had become an upbeat rock music
Our Modern Music Our modern music, except for rap and hip hop, was influenced by the blues Famous modern bands such as The Black Keys and Train would not exist without these famous bluesmen
Conclusion This old and slow blues that evolved through the ages did in fact influence our modern rock and pop. Without these excellent musicians we would probably not have these forms of music today.
