O Employer shall assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present that require the use of PPE. O Communicate presence of hazards to employees. O Select the appropriate PPE – must fit each employee.
Exposure Control Plan O The method of implementation for: O Methods of compliance. O Hepatitis B vaccination and post- exposure evaluation and follow-up for any exposure. O Communication of hazards to employees. O Recordkeeping.
O Exposure Determination O all jobs in which employees in those job have occupational exposure. O all tasks and procedures…in which occupational exposure occurs and that are performed by the above employees.

Purpose - to eliminate or minimize employee exposure: O Readily accessible hand washing facilities. O Contaminated sharps management – don’t touch. O Keeping food and drink out of the work area. O Procedures involving blood handling – we do not do this. O Procedures for moving something with dried fluid O If not of a quantity to splash, pool, or flake off, only then deal with the item. O Handle it as little as possible and only when gloved avoiding the contaminated area of the item. O Dispose of gloves and wash thoroughly and immediately.
O Provide alcohol-based hand cleansers in multiple locations. O When they should be used: if hands are not visibly dirty, if soap and water are not available. O Frequent use is recommended, good amount, rubbing into all surfaces of hands until dry. O Washing with soap and water: careful technique, 2030 seconds, if hands are dirty, and after direct contact with potentially infectious material.
O Shall be used where exposure remains after institution of engineering and work practice controls. O Employer shall provide appropriate PPE at no cost to employee. O May include: gloves, crawl suits, eye protection.
O Use O Accessibility O Cleaning, laundering, and disposal O Repair and replacement O Garment penetration O PPE removal prior to leaving work area
O Shall be handled as little as possible: O Employer shall ensure that employees who have contact with contaminated laundry wear protective gloves and other appropriate PPE.
How should contaminated laundry be handled? O Contaminated laundry shall be handled as little as possible with a minimum of agitation and only if dry. O Whenever contaminated laundry is wet and presents a reasonable likelihood of soak-through or leakage the items should not be handle at all by our employees.
O The employer shall make available the Hep B vaccine & appropriate medication…to all employees who have occupational exposure. O Post-exposure evaluation & follow-up care to all employees who have had an exposure incident: O No cost to the employee O At a reasonable time O Licensed physician or healthcare professional O All lab tests are conducted by an accredited lab at no cost to employee
