CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT CONTROL UNIT 1. Control unit of a computer system manage and coordinates the operation of all other components of the computer system. ALU ARITHMETIC LOGICAL UNIT 1. Arithmetic Logic unit of a computer system Is the place where the actual executions of instruction takes place during processing operation. CU CPU
INPUT UNIT It accepts (or reads) instruction & data from outside world. It converts these instruction & data in computer acceptable form. It supplies the converted instruction & data to the computer system for further processing Exp. Is keyboard, mouse, scanner etc.
OUTPUT UNIT it accepts the result produced by the computer which are in codes form & hence, cannot be easily understand by us. It converts these coded result to human acceptable (readout) form. It supplies the converted result to outside world.
STORAGE UNIT B. Secondary memory 1. Used to hold stored program instruction 2. Used to hold data & information of stored jobs. 3. Slower than primary 4. Large capacity 5. Lot cheaper that PAM 6. (retains data even with out power 7. Eg: hard disk B. Primary memory 1. Used to hold running program instruction 2. Used to hold data intermediate result & result of ongoing processing of job’s 3. Fast in operation 4. Small capacity 5. Expensive 6. Volatile (looses data on power dissipation) 7. Eg: Ram
