• What did the plant in each picture get or not get? • Which plants will live? • Which plants will die?
The plants that get enough air, sunlight, and water will live to produce leaves and flowers. The plants that do not get enough air, sunlight, or water will die.
What do plants need to live and grow?
What happens when they do not get these things?
• Plants need water, air, and sunlight to live. • These things help the leaves to make food for the plant so that it can grow. • They also need nutrients from the soil to grow well. • Plants do not grow well if they do not get water, air, sunlight, and nutrients. They may even die.
Will plants be able to grow properly if you plant them very close to each other? Why?
• Plants need to space to grow. • Without enough space, they will remain small and unhealthy as they will not get enough sunlight, water, and nutrients.
