BLESSING BEFORE THE TORAH STUDY Blessed are you, YHVH our God, King of the Universe, Who sanctified us with his commandments and commanded us to engross ourselves in the words of the Torah. HEBREW TRANSLITERATION: BA’RUCH ATAH YHVH ELOHENU MELECH HA-OLAM ASHER KIDSHANU B’MITZVOTAV VETZIVANU LA’ASOK B’DIVREI TORAH.
PLEASE YHVH, MAKE THE TORAH’S WORDS SWEET IN MY MOUTH AND IN THE MOUTH OF ALL YOUR PEOPLE THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL. MAY WE YOUR CHILDREN, ALL OF ISRAEL, KNOW YOUR NAME, AND THE NAME OF YOUR MESSIAH, YESHUA, AND MAY WE STUDY YOUR TORAH SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS GOOD. BLESSED ARE YOU YHVH, WHO GAVE US THE TORAH OF TRUTH.
Torah Study Book of I John 3 “We Know’s Part 45 I John 5: 20 -21 12/11/2019
1 John 5: 20 -21 (CJB) 20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us discernment, so that we may know who is genuine; moreover, we are united with the One who is genuine, united with his Son Yeshua the Messiah. He is the genuine God and eternal life. 21 Children, guard yourselves against false gods!
He uses two more words which connect to the concept of “knowledge”, i. e. , “understanding “ (dianoia), and “true” (alethimos).
“Understanding” is something YHVH gives, not something that a person acquires on his own or by his own strength or intellectual powers.
This involves a person’e diligent desire and effort to know that truth but the desire as well as the ability to receive what is true and to make it one’s own through faith in Yeshua, this is purely the gift of YHVH!
Ephesians 2: 8 -10 (CJB) 8 For you have been delivered by grace through trusting, and even this is not your accomplishment but God’s gift. 9 You were not delivered by your own actions; therefore no one should boast. 10 For we are of God’s making, created in union with the Messiah Yeshua for a life of good actions already prepared by God for us to do. Both grace and faith are a gift of YHVH!
Romans 1: 18 -20 (CJB) 18 What is revealed is God’s anger from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people who in their wickedness keep suppressing the truth; 19 because what is known about God is plain to them, since God has made it plain to them. 20 For ever since the creation of the universe his invisible qualities — both his eternal power and his divine nature — have been clearly seen, because they can be understood from what he has made. Therefore, they have no excuse;
If in any way the centrality of Yeshua as the incarnate Son of YHVH is diminished, then the truth about YHVH, and His being the one and only true YHVH, is lost!
John 17: 3 (CJB) 3 And eternal life is this: to know you, the one true God, and him whom you sent, Yeshua the Messiah. To know YHVH in truth is possible ONLY as we are united with Yeshua!
1 John 5: 20 (CJB) 20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us discernment, so that we may know who is genuine; moreover, we are united with the One who is genuine, united with his Son Yeshua the Messiah. He is the genuine God and eternal life. 1 John 2: 24 (CJB) 24 Let what you heard from the beginning remain in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you will also remain in union with both the Son and the Father.
To “abide in the Son” is one and the same with abiding “in the Father”.
Romans 6: 5 -9 (CJB) 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will also be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 We know that our old self was put to death on the execution-stake with him, so that the entire body of our sinful propensities might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 For someone who has died has been cleared from sin. 8 Now since we died with the Messiah, we trust that we will also live with him. 9 We know that the Messiah has been raised from the dead, never to die again; death has no authority over him. Matthew 28: 20 (CJB) 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember! I will be with you always, yes, even until the end of the age. ”
Romans 8: 3 -4 (CJB) 3 For what the Torah could not do by itself, because it lacked the power to make the old nature cooperate, God did by sending his own Son as a human being with a nature like our own sinful one [but without sin]. God did this in order to deal with sin, and in so doing he executed the punishment against sin in human nature, 4 so that the just requirement of the Torah might be fulfilled in us who do not run our lives according to what our old nature wants but according to what the Spirit wants. Romans 8: 8 -9 (CJB) 8 Thus, those who identify with their old nature cannot please God. 9 But you, you do not identify with your old nature but with the Spirit — provided the Spirit of God is living inside you, for anyone who doesn’t have the Spirit of the Messiah doesn’t belong to him. Romans 8: 14 (CJB) 14 All who are led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons.
1 John 5: 20 (CJB) 20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us discernment, so that we may know who is genuine; moreover, we are united with the One who is genuine, united with his Son Yeshua the Messiah. He is the genuine God and eternal life.
1 John 1: 1 -2 (CJB) 1 The Word, which gives life! He existed from the beginning. We have heard him, we have seen him with our eyes, we have contemplated him, we have touched him with our hands! 2 The life appeared, and we have seen it. We are testifying to it and announcing it to you —eternal life! He was with the Father, and he appeared to us.
John 1: 1 (CJB) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. So the confession that Yeshua is “true God of the true God” is based squarely upon the Scriptures and clearly affirmed by John in this verse!
John 14: 6 (CJB) 6 Yeshua said, “I AM the Way — and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me.
1 John 5: 21 (CJB) 21 Children, guard yourselves against false gods! Children (teknia) is a term of endearment buts ends with a strong warning of love!
Guard against idols! More than material images but to guard themselves from the idolatry that consists of false conceptions of YHVH, that is, any conception of Him that is at variance with His self-revelation in Yeshua is an idol!
We must guard ourselves from error, from wrong teaching and doctrine, which means we must set ourselves to know the Scriptures and to apply them to every facet of life!
1 John 4: 1 (CJB) 4 Dear friends, don’t trust every spirit. On the contrary, test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
We need : To set the Scriptures forth as the rule by which we test everything related to our faith in Yeshua and how we live out that faith.
We must remain steadfast to know the Scriptures and hold them as the final authority in all matters of faith and halachah!
We need to be strengthened to be bearers of His truth, for the glory of His name and the expansion of His Kingdom!
