What do Course Participants Learn? Optimal learning environment The course teaches managers, supervisors and other employees how to assist a co-worker who is developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. Mental health crises covered: Mental health problems covered: - Depression - Anxiety problems - Psychosis - Substance use problems All course content is evidence-based. - Suicidal thoughts and behaviours - Non-suicidal self-injury - Panic attacks - Traumatic events - Severe psychotic states - Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use - Aggressive behaviours
Blended Course Structure • Designed for workplaces that require increased flexibility, this is a Blended Course a combination of self-paced online learning (e. Learning) and half a day of follow-on face-to-face training. • Course participants first complete the interactive e. Learning component that presents an overview of mental health problems and mental health crises in workplace settings. • The follow-on half day face-to-face training allows participants the opportunity to: o Revise and consolidate skills in a group environment, o Address mental health problems in the workplace in more depth o Discuss ‘what next’ in using their MHFA knowledge and skills at work.
