Blackboard: Grade Center: What’s in your course? What does the grading portion of your syllabus look like in terms of graded activities and scoring? What are the individual elements that go into that grading? Example: • 5 quizzes worth 5 points each; • 3 short essays worth 10% of the final grade; • a project with 2 drafts (10 points each) + presentation (worth double) 5
Blackboard: Grade Center Blackboard Says: 22 “Yes, 5 Points Possible is fine!” If you give the student a 4 out of 5? 4 out of 5 = 80% 16 out 20 = 80% 80 out of 100 = 80% 200 out of 250 = 80% 6

Blackboard: Grade Center Categories Scenario An instructor has used the Test tool to create 5 quizzes. Each quiz has a Points Possible of 10 points. The intention is to drop the lowest grade of one of the 6 quizzes, then make the 5 Quiz grades worth 20% of the final grade. And there are numerous other assignments and tests. Can Blackboard do that? Yes, but how? 21

Blackboard: Grade Center Homework 2: What are your categories? If you group some grades together in your course, what are they and how are they grouped? For example, do you do things like group together 6 quizzes so you can drop the lowest grade, then count the remaining 5 as 20% of the grade? 24
