Bishop’s Stortford Neighbourhood Plan All Saints, Central, South and part of Thorley Actions/policy concepts – specific to new development n n n New developments to provide direct access to public transport facilities, the existing footpath network and the wider network of cycle and pedestrian routes. This may require the provision of links beyond the development and inclusion within a negotiated planning agreement. For new developments, maximise opportunities for safe sustainable access to nearby green space, shopping, schools, health facilities and other amenities, for pedestrians, cyclists and people with mobility constraints and disabilities. Major destinations/entrances within new developments should be located where they would help minimise journey lengths for pedestrians and cyclists. Routes are to be well lit so as to create a safe and attractive environment. Use shared space and pedestrianized schemes to improve visual amenity and local economic performance of local neighbourhood centres in new residential developments. Commercial development that will generate or enhance employment areas is to provide accessible and attractive cycle routes, secure cycle parking and wherever possible access to shower and changing facilities © Bishop’s Stortford Town Council Your town – your plan
