Tundra • A tundra is a cold place, the temperature is normally between -34 to -6 degrees Celsius. • This is home for arctic fox, polar bears, gray wolves, reindeer, snow geese and musk oxen. • Only hardy flora and fauna grow here. • This biome is the coldest and harshest
Taiga (Boreal forest) • Taiga forest is only in the northern hemisphere • Large areas were covered by glaciers during the ice age • taigas are thick forests of coniferous trees. • Animals that live here are owls, eagles, deer, bears, lynx, Siberian tigers and wild boars.
Temperate forest • The UK is a temperate forest • Around the world these animals live in temperate forest, hedgehogs, mice, squirrels, bears, badgers, chipmunks • The temperature range is between 10 c and 21 c • 25% of the world’s forest is temperate forests
Desert • 33% of the land is Desert • In a Desert has a lot of different animals like fennec fox, addax antelope, scorpion, camel, lizard, rock hopper penguin, thorny devil • The average temperature is 38ºc at day and -4ºc at night • Most of Africa is a Desert
Grassland • 40% of the land in the world is grassland • Grassland animals are these animals African wild dog, alpaca, buffalo, aardvark and lots more • A large area of Asia is grass land • The average temperature is -20ºc to 30ºc
Tropical Rainforest • 13% of land is tropical rainforest • Lots of animals live in the tropical rainforest like kinkajou, lemur, ocelot, sloths and lots more • The average temperature 21ºc to 30ºc • Most of south America is rainforest
Savannah/Tropical grassland • Savannah covers about 20% of land • In a savannah there would be animals you would probably see like elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions and lots more • The average temperature is 20º c to -30º c • The biggest savannah area is in Africa
Ice • 10% of the world’s land is ice • The Antarctica is the largest area in world with ice • The ice biomes temperature is normally under 0ºc • Polar bears and killer whales live in the ice biome and sometimes some penguins.
