The action plan • Life-threatening conditions • The procedure - DRABC: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) D- check for DANGER R- check RESPONSE A- check AIRWAY B- check for BREATHING C- check for CIRCULATION
Step 1: DANGER • Make sure that YOU aren’t in danger, before approaching the victim
Step 2: RESPONSE • Conscious or unconscious. • Shake their shoulders gently. • Ask if there is anyone who is trained to help you.
Step 3: AIRWAY • No response - open the airway. • Tilt their head back while lifting their chin.
Step 4: BREATHING • Unconscious BUT breathing normally recovery position • Dial 194 for an ambulance.
Step 5: CIRCULATION • NO pulse - CPR technique • We only do the CPR if the casualty is not breathing! No pulse + NO BREATHING = CPR technique
