How He Was Born. ~ Was born as a slave in Makkah, the property of Umayyah Ibn Khalaf ~ Was valued as property, and that's all. ~ He didn't keep his conversion to islam a secret ~ His master wanted to keep him strong, but he didn't care about his human rights. ~ His mother was a former princess of Abyssinia.
Converting to Islam. ~ Didn’t keep conversion a secret ~ Bilals master did not like that bilal was muslim. ~ Bilal got tortured for converting to islam. Bilal's master put him in a hot desert, dressed in a suit of armour, and was told to stay there at midday until the metal of the armour scorched his skin. ~ As the metal burned through his clothes, he repeatedly said “ Allah is one… Allah is one. ” ~ Then, abu bakr found bilal on the ground and he paid bilal's master so that he would not die, and that he would be free from slavery.
Growing Up. Bilal got more mature when he grew up. He continued to study facts about islam and worked with the muslims. He was free from slavery, so he lives somewhere other than umayyah house. Bilal was happy with his religion, but after lots of studying about islam, he realized that there was no way to tell the people that it is time to pray, without taking a lot of time.
Abdullah’s dream It was said in a hadith that Abdullah had a dream about a person carrying two green garnets. Here is the hadith…….
The Messenger of Allah was thinking of a horn, and he commanded that a bell be made and it was done. Then 'Abdullah bin Zaid had a dream. He said: "I saw a man wearing two green garments, carrying a bell. I said to him, 'O slave of Allah, will you sell the bell? ' He said; 'What will you do with it? ' I said, 'I will call (the people) to prayer. ' He said, 'Shall I not tell you of something better than that? ' I said, 'What is it? ' he said, 'Say: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah, Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah; Ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulullah, Ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulullah; Hayya 'alas-salah, Hayya 'alas-salah; Hayya 'alal-falah, Hayya 'alal-falah; Allahu Akbar; La ilaha illallah (Allah is The Most Great, Allah is The Most Great; I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; Come to the Prayer, Come to the Prayer; Come to the prosperity, Come to the prosperity; Allah is the Most great, Allah is the Most Great; None has the right to be worshipped but Allah). " 'Abdullah bin Zaid went out and came to the Messenger of Allah, and told him what he had seen. Go out with Bilal to the mosque and teach it to him, for he has a louder voice than you. " I ('Abdullah) went out with Bilal to the mosque, and I started teaching him the words and he was calling them out. 'Umar Al. Khattab heard the voice and came out saying, "O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, I saw the same (dream) as him. " (Hasan)Abu 'Ubaid said: "Abu Bakr Al-Hakami told me that 'Abdullah bin Zaid Al-Ansari said concerning that: 'I praise Allah, the Possessor of majesty and honor, A great deal of praise for the Adhan. Since the news of it came to me from Allah, So due to it, I was honored by the information. During the three nights. Each of which increased me in honor. First Azan ~ Bilal Was the first person to say the azan. ~ Prophet Muhammad (s) chose him to say the azan because his voice was so beautiful and loud, that it would be perfect for the azan. ~ Bilal said the azan because rasulullah (s) Told him Abdullah's dream and to say those words. So, bilal did. ~A women said to bilal “ my house is the tallest here, use the roof of it to call for salah. ~ when people complimented him about his beautiful voice, he just said “ I was only a slave yesterday. ”
Divine Justice ~Bilal fought in many battles. But in the battle of badr, he came face to face with his old master. They fought, and bilal killed Umayyah. ~ After the battle of Khaibar, Rasulullah (s) Said to keep watch until dawn so that others might sleep. Bilal volunteered to do it. He prayed as long as he could, and almost made it through dawn, but fell asleep before his watch was through. Every person woke to the heat of the sun, but have missed fajr! When Rasulullah (S) rode his camel, he told everyone to preform wudu, and then went to bilal, and told him to say the azan. After they prayed, Rasulullah told everyone Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance. quran. com
Bilal’s Marriage ~ Bilal remained unmarried, and spend all his time in the masjid. Then, Rasulullah said that it was time for him to have a family. Then, A person named abdu ar rahman Came to rasulullah and said that my sister is the age to marry. Then he asked if rasulullah could find a suitable man for his sister. Rasulullah came to bilal and said how about bilal? He said nothing, And the next day, the same thing happened. Then, The third day, abdu ar rahman said my sister would be happy to marry a man you hold in such high esteem. So, the two got married.
Responsibilities Bilal was responsible for managing the expences of Rasulullah (S). when he asked how to do it, he said a story to him. Bilal was distresses by the story, And told prophet (S) that he was gonna dissapear for a while. Then, bilal realized that there was no money for the man he was gonna pay. Then he found money left over, and bilal said “ i refuse to go home until all the money is spent. ”
Bilal’s great grief When rasulullah (S) died, bilal was too sad to stay in Madinah. He could not make himself do the azan anymore. So, he set of to the world to teach islam, and make jihad, inner and outer, for allah. One day, bilal saw rasulullahs grandsons. The pleaded for bilal to say the azan again. Bilal loved them so much that he did. It brought love into everyones heart. A few days later, Bilal died In Damascus in 20 H May allah shower his peace and blessings upon this humble and courageouse man.
