La lección para esta semana. Lesson for this week! This week’s Spanish lesson is all about subject pronouns which are also known as personal pronouns. Spanish people don’t use subject pronouns very often! Ok, so why do we have to learn them? We have to learn them because we need to know what they are, and it helps us to understand verb tenses. Over the next few weeks, we are going to look at the present tense in Spanish. Don’t forget to use the power point in slide show mode. The lesson will work better that way.
The subject pronouns are : Yo = I Tú = You (when talking to 1 person) Él = He Ella = She Nosotros = We (when talking about males) Nosotras = We (when talking about females) Vosotros = You ( when talking to more than 1 male person) Vosotras = You ( when talking to more than 1 female person Ellos =They (when talking about males) Ellas =They (when talking about females) …………………………………… You will need to know these also: Usted = You ( when talking to one person, that you don’t know) Ustedes = You ( when talking to more than one person that you don’t know) It’s too confusing to learn them altogether today. Just try to remember that they exist.
Let’s have a look at some abbreviations that you will see in Y 7… (m) = masculine = male (f) = feminine = female (m pl) = more than 1 male (f pl) = more than 1 female A bit confusing, but you will get to know them better in Y 7. Look back at the previous slide, and as you can see, there is more than one word for you, we and they. Can you try and work out how to use them differently on the next slides?
