Creation Era (~2000 years) • • Creation Fall Cain & Abel --- Seth Noah and the Flood • God provided for every need (including boundaries) God killed an animal to cover man’s nakedness and sin God speaks of future redemption Sin led to physical and spiritual separation. God gave instructions to pass from one generation to the next. • •
Patriarch Era (360 years) • Abraham is called…and went. • Abraham receives promises for the future. • Isaac is born! (after 25 years of waiting) • Jacob and Esau • Jacob has 12 sons – to become the 12 tribes of Israel.
Abraham’s Family Tree • God initiates a relationship with Abraham • God promises an heir, land, and that he will be a blessing to ALL the families of the earth…Jesus! • God provides a substitute, a ram, in place of Isaac. • God shows Abraham he must walk by faith to be saved. • God accomplishes his Promises and Plan through flawed people.
Exodus Era (470 years) • See Genesis 15 • Moses – Basket – Shepherd – Pharoah • Passover Red Sea • 40 Years of Wilderness – The Law (read every 7 years to EVERYONE) – Tabernacle
Exodus Era • • God inflicts 10 plagues on Egypt to teach about Himself and free His people. God brings Israel out of Egypt through the Red Sea. God establishes Passover and Day of Atonement as celebrations for EVERY year. God hears His people. God desires to dwell among His people. God requires His law to be read. Man needs laws to guide our spiritual and social behavior.
Conquest Era (~50 years) • • Joshua leads the people into the Promised Land Jericho Rahab Joshua read God’s Word himself and to the people. As long as Joshua was alive, the people followed the Lord well. God establishes Himself as the commander of the army…the way to victory. God takes sin seriously (Achan)

Judges Era (~300 years) • • People fall to sin- doing what was right in their own eyes. God oppresses the people People cry out to God raises a Judge God uses oppression to get the attention of His people, to turn them back to Him. • God uses unlikely men and women to lead His people well. • God hears and responds to our cries. ----------------- • • Naomi & Ruth- used to continue the line of Christ
Kingdom Era (~120 years) • • Saul, David, Solomon Kings were to write the law in their own hand, keep it with them, and read it EVERY DAY. Saul: disobedience, in his own power David: following the commands of the Lord; truly experienced and shared what KNOWING the Lord looks like. Solomon: received the blessings because of his father’s obedience. Wise, Indulgent, Led Astray, finally understanding what is important. God knows what we need before we do. God desires us to KNOW and rely on Him. God is ready to forgive a confessing and
Divided Kingdom Era (Israel 209 years; Judah 345 years) • • Rehoboam (2) vs. Jeroboam (10) Israel – – • Judah – – • • • Northern Kingdom established their own religion God sent prophet after prophet to turn hearts back to Him. Led to 19 wicked Kings and Assyrian attack Southern Kingdom People followed the Lord when their King loved the Word of God and obeyed it. God sent prophet after prophet to warn and turn people’s hearts back to Him. Judah had 19 kings (some good) before God brought Babylon to attack. God desires and inspires repentance God wants to bless His people, but won’t tolerate disobedience…which lead to curses. God’s word and good leaders help stubborn people

Captivity Era (70 years) • Judah is captured by Babylon • Daniel prophesied about the Son of Man who would rule heaven. • God sent prophets to warn them before. • God shows mercy even in the midst of Judgment. • God sent prophets to encourage them during exile. • God promised He had good plans for them- hope and a future!
Return Era (85 years) • King Cyrus of Persia used to help rebuild. • Sent Jews back in 3 waves: – Word: Ezra – Worship: Haggi, Zechariah- rebuild the temple – Wall: Nehemiah • Prophet Amos warns of a 400 year silence of hearing from God. • God can use anyone to accomplish His plan • God uses His Word to revive the hearts of His people.
Silent Era (400 years) • Though God was silent, He was working • Babylon-Persia-Greece. Rome – Greek language – Roman roads • Jewish focus on staying right with God- addition of 600 man made rules…Saducees and Pharisees.
Gospel Era (~33 years) • • • The silence is broken! John the Baptist (Isaiah prophesied 700 years ago) Jesus (Prophesied since Genesis 3: 15; 4000 years ago) Did everything to please God, sinless! Called and trained 12 men- Love God. Love People. Died on the Cross…for YOU! Rose from the dead- He is powerful! Every promise fulfilled! God is faithful. God demands and provide payment for our sin- He desires relationship with us. We must come to God HIS way. Anyone who believes will have new and abundant life with Him.
Church Era (Pentacost to today) • Church: A group of people confessing to believe in Christ. • Meet for worship, teaching, training, encouraging one another, and reaching out to draw others in. • God gifts believers with spiritual gifts, through the Holy Spirit, to work together within the body of Christ to
Missions Era (Persecution to today) • • Peter, Paul, Philip, Thomas Persecution led Christians to flee from Jerusalem They took with them the Gospel and shared it with the nations. Living out the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 19 -20) with the help of the Holy Spirit is our job today. The Gospel convicts men of sin and leads them to the forgiveness Jesus offers. God uses his followers to take the Gospel to those who need to hear it. The Holy Spirit enables and enboldens us to proclaim the Gospel
End Times Era • We look forward to Jesus coming again- as He promised. • Jesus promises to establish His Kingdom, finally crush the head of the Satan, and establish a NEW heaven and NEW earth. • Jesus is the temple- His presence with us, the Tree of Life (no evil), and the Light (no darkness) • God will have a final judgment for all- accepting believers of Jesus Christ, rejecting unbelievers. • We can trust THIS Promise, because every other promise made in God’s Word was fulfilled.
