Bible Summary Ezra • Ezra lists those who returned to Jerusalem & Judah • First they build an Alter to God then they start work on the Temple overseen by Levite priests • Others who had settled the area during the Jewish exile in Babylon obstructed the building of the temple. They complained to Xerses king of Persia and their complaint was upheld • Work on Temple in Jerusalem came to a standstill until the 2 nd year of King Darius of Persia.

Bible Summary Ezra • The Jews remind Darius that former King Cyrus gave permission to build the Temple • In fact Darius even provides recompense to the Jews building the Temple • The Temple is completed , dedicated to the Lord and priests appointed. The Passover is celebrated • Ezra now comes to Jerusalem from Babylon • Artaxerxes king of Persia allows any Israelites who wish to travel back to Judah to do so.
