BHCC: Equitable Restroom Renovation Project October 30, 2019
Equity: A Central Value and a High Priority at BHCC • Formed the Equity Work Group in Spring 2018, to assess the culture and climate of BHCC so that equity informs the work of staff, faculty, and administrators. • Conducting national search to fill new position: Chief Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CEDIO). • Created Center for Equity and Cultural Wealth (CECW), which develops cultural inclusivity and equity-minded practice throughout academic and co-curricular programming, infusing it in all our work with students.
Equity at BHCC: Working Definition Formulated by the Equity Working Group: • Equity is a common understanding within BHCC of how we engage through reaching, serving, teaching, and learning. To achieve this, BHCC utilizes an equity-minded lens when creating and changing policies, practices, and programming; ensuring additional institutional and societal disparities are recognized, evaluated, and addressed, leading to members of the College community having access to what they need to be effective in their personal and professional aspirations.
