Honors Classes Same curriculum and SOL requirements. Academic content is embedded in the honors curriculum. n Assessments may require more essay writing and critical thinking skills. n Make choices that will keep your child well balanced and not stressed. n Goal ~ All BEMS students will take at least one honors class before leaving middle school n

Spectrum This is the Gifted and Talented program at middle school. n Students in Futura are automatically placed in Spectrum. n Offered during 45 minute of the resource class. n Student participation is optional. n Participation option may be exercised from year to year. n Selection criteria is used to identify students who will be participating in Spectrum n

! BELMONT EXTREME ! Summer camp which provides students the opportunity to practice middle school schedule. n Students get to do fun activities while learning about middle school. n The program runs for a week, from June 27 -July 1, 8 am-12 noon. n Students get acquainted with some of their 6 th grade team of teachers, administrators, & counselor. n Students are provided with a snack. n
Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) n Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is a research and evidenced-based practice. n It creates a common vision of behavioral expectations through consistent language and practices. n PBIS is a framework of tiered approaches to address ALL the needs of our students. n PBIS Link
