BELLWORK Please take your Catcher in the Rye

BELLWORK Please take your Catcher in the Rye quiz in silence. After you are finished, please bring it to my desk.

PLANNER: Homework This weekend, you will be writing me a paragraph about your high school experience so far. It must be typed and in the MLA format. You will be graded on the format, not necessarily the content. If you need printing or computer help, please come see me during Office Hours.

MLA Format

What do we need first?

We Need A Header ● A header gives us the author’s last name and the page number ● This is extremely important to keep our info in order

Header

Now Let’s Change the Font ● What font should our paper be in? ● Times New Roman!

What is Still Wrong with the Format?

Everything Needs to be in 12 Point Font!

What’s Next? ● Now, we need our name ● There is a specific order that your name, class name, etc. NEEDS to be in to follow the MLA format

Format

What is Still Wrong with the Format?

Everything Needs to be Double-Spaced!

Double-Spacing

What Do We Need Next?

A… Title! ● Make it fun ● This is where you can get creative and even punny

Title

Title ● The title needs to be centered! ● Seriously, make it fun or cheesy

What Do We Need Next?

Now. . . ● We can start our paper! ● But not without a few rules

Rules As You Continue ● Keep the paper consistent ○ Double-Spacing ○ Indentation at Paragraphs ○ Always the Same Font

Rules As You Continue ● If you are using outside sources, you must cite them ● We will learn how to cite next week

In Summary. . . ● It is not only me that expects MLA format- you will have to do MLA throughout high school and well into college ● But, I do expect MLA for many writing assignments ● We will have a quiz on MLA next week, so please keep looking over this and ask questions!
