Student Evaluations • Your group will be assigned another group to critique. • Be sure to give honest and constructive feedback. • Please do not just say your commercial was bad, give suggestions on how students can improve upon their commercials. • You will be given 15 minutes after all the groups have gone to meet with your assigned group to go over your evaluation.
Graffiti Activity • Now that we have completed the 13 original colonies I want you, using the “sticky notes” on your desk to write facts about each of the colonies. Place the sticky notes on the chart paper on the wall. We will discuss after 10 minutes.

Loyalist vs. Patriot Debate We are going to have a debate about whether the colonists should engage in war with England. The class will be divided into two groups Loyalists and Patriots. Before we start please write down the notes in your notebook
Debate The class will be divided into two groups Loyalists (those who supported England) and Patriots (those who wanted war). Scene: It is 1776 and the colonists are on the verge of declaring war on England. The colonists have decided to hold a town meeting where delegates from each colony can debate on whether war should occur. It is your job to try to convince every member in attendance to side with you. Preparation: You will have approximately 30 minutes to research arguments that support your claim as either a loyalist or patriot. You may work with other members of your group to help you construct a valid and convincing argument. After 20 minutes we will have the debate and vote as a class on which side was more successful!

DBQ Essay Question What were the major arguments used by each side in the debates over the Ratification of the Constitution?
Thesis statement for DBQ The debate over the ratification of the US Constitution spilt the nation into two very distinct groups, the Federalists, and Anti-Federalists. The Federalists were supporters of the constitution and wanted to ratify it as it was, while the Anti. Federalists were against the ratification of the Constitution. Each side used a number of different arguments to support their cause both in and out of the Constitutional Convention.

War of 1812 Debate Prep (electronic devices in use) • • • Tomorrow you will be engaged in a debate on whether the United States should enter into the War of 1812. There will be two sides: pro war (war hawks) and anti war (peace doves). Using your phones and textbook please construct an argument on your side of the argument. Be sure to include: • • • Specific reasons why the United States should enter or not enter into war. Look up famous people who supported your cause to help you out.
