Standard • We are starting a NEW UNIT!!! • Geometry • 7. GB. 4 - understand angle measures and simple equations to find missing angles – Day 1 - classifying angles and finding missing angle measures – Day 2 - missing angle equations

Today’s Agenda • Complementary vs Supplementary Angles • Missing Angles in Figures • Missing Angles exit ticket • Missing Angles Challenge Puzzle

Vocabulary Review- GOOGLE image search • complementary angles: angles that add to 90 degrees • supplementary angles: angles that add to 180 degrees. All triangles are supplementary.

Guided practice: classify each angle and determine the missing measurement

Partner practice: classify each angle and determine the missing measurement 3. 4. 5.

Missing Angles in Figures • use knowledge of angles to find missing measurements • use complementary and supplementary angles to find values • break down each figure into smaller pieces

Answer: a = 36 1. Use supplementary angles 78 and unmarked angle 180 -78 = 102 2. Then add 42 + 102 + a =180 3. 180 – 144 = 36

1. Find x X = 180 -61 x = 119 2. Find y y= 180 - 153 y = 27 3. Use x and y to find z 27 + 119 + z = 180 - 146 = 34 z = 34
