Belfield Community School Reopening safely When and How
Belfield Community School Re-opening safely: When and How? Ever since the government announced that schools would be opening for more children in June, we have been planning how we can do this in as safe a way as possible. As you know Rochdale Council have made the decision that it would be safer to wait until June 15 th and they are currently examining all school’s risk assessments to check that schools can open safely. Therefore, we hope that school will be able to re-open for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 from 15 th June. However, we are not opening for each of these year groups at the same time, as we need to check that it is safe as we introduce more children. The table overleaf will tell you when your child’s year group will hopefully be returning. If at any stage we don’t feel this arrangement is working, we could make changes. You will notice that there are different start and finish times. This is to ensure we have as few adults on site as we can to ensure social distancing can be adhered to. We’re afraid that these times can not be changed for individual children and families. If there is going to be a gap between drop-off times for more than one child, please call school and we will advise you where you can wait. All classes (apart from the key worker group) will be closed every Wednesday so school can have a deep clean. Government guidelines suggest that each class should not have more than 15 children, but in lots of our classrooms, we don’t feel that we can fit this number of children in safely. We have kept the number of children in the bubbles as low as possible. Each group of children and staff is called a “bubble”. The people in the bubbles cannot mix with other bubbles – they must learn, play, eat and move around school with their own bubble and not come into contact with children or staff in other bubbles – this is to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. Because of this, we have had to use different classrooms and teachers to normal, so your child may well not be with their usual teacher or in their normal classroom. You will have to bring your child through specific gates and entrances – please, please stick to these instructions – it will keep us all safe. Online learning and learning packs will continue for all children not attending school. If you have any questions at all, please give us a ring before the children are due back.
We will send you a text letting you know which bubble your child/children are in. If you don’t receive this, or would like to discuss anything at all, please call school before 15 th June.
