Why I Choose this Job �The reason I choose this occupation is because I like to help people and the medical field always fascinated by the medical field and science. �At first I wanted to be a doctor, then I realized I wanted to work with children. �I think it would be really fun to be a pediatrician.
Working Conditions �Being a pediatrician you must work indoors. �Usually you work in hospitals inside well lighted rooms in which you exam patients. �Work hours are usually from 60 to 100 hours per week. �Although during the night you may be called in to examine a patient.
Required Education High School �Basic classes you should take include: biology, chemistry, physic as well as algebra, geometry, and calculus. �Also you should get involved in charity organization. �Get into extra curricular activities such as sports and student council. College/University � A “Premed” curriculum is recommended because it includes basic science courses. � Also basic science courses should be done such as: biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics, and math. � Medical schools REALLY like seeing people to volunteer work. � Also in the senior year you should prepare for MCAT (Medical College Admission Test).
Outlook for Pediatricians �The outlook for the future of pediatricians is very good. �It is expected that there will a 22% increase in pediatrics from 2008 to 2018. �The outlook is excellent because we will always need pediatricians helping kids.
Salaries and average earnings �The average annual wage for a pediatrician is about $161, 410 dollars, the salary can be different depending on the specialty in pediatrics. �The average hourly salary is about $77. 60 dollars again, it depends on what field in pediatrics the person is in. �In certain areas such as: Iowa and Nebraska you may get paid more it just depends.
Important Contributor � Benjamin Spock was a very famous and important pediatrician. He was born in May 2, 1903. He received education at the Columbia University. He was very influential because he wrote to books named Common Sense Book and Child Care, which were a huge success. He also urged parents to trust common sense, be flexible, and to keep from giving corporal punishments. He died in March 15, 1998. Benjamin Spock- 1970
