Being a good friend Reception Class News This

Being a good friend! Reception Class News This week has been Anti-Bullying week across the country and we have been learning that we have differences between us, but that is what makes us special. The children have been drawing pictures of the things that they enjoy doing most in our classroom. We all enjoyed doing all kinds of different activities. We celebrated the fact that we have so many different personalities in our class. We also recapped, from earlier in the Autumn term, what it is to be kind to someone and how we can look after each other. 20 th November 2020 The Gruffalo has been another wonderful story from the author Julia Donaldson. The children have really enjoyed it and we have embraced it in many areas of our learning. The children retold the story using the character teddies/puppets, remembering lots of the key vocabulary and even tried out different voices! GRRRRUUUFFFAAALLLLOOOOO! The children have written sentences describing the characters in the story, to help others guess who they are and we have used our funky fingers to capture some minibeasts for the Gruffalo to eat! Maths We have been learning some very tricky skills in Maths this week. We have been learning about ‘one more’ and ‘one less’. We have been using Gruffalo counters to add one more and count how many there are. We have also pretended to get on and off a bus to count one more and one less passengers are onboard! Phonics Wow, now we are learning digraphs which are 2 letters, that together, make a new sound! ch sh th ng As well as practising reading the tricky words we have learnt so far every day, we have also added some new ones: was you my It’s great to see the children’s confidence growing as they use their knowledge and skills to read and write.
