Going under the water: Instructor assisted rings: • Instructor holds child’s hand; places one hand on child’s upper back; gently glides the student under the water to pick up the ring (when child is ready to try). • Instructor places one hand on child’s upper back; gently glides the student under the water to pick up the ring (when child is ready to try).
Gliding • Glide under the “bridge” (noodle bungeed to the lane lines). • Students push off the wall and try to glide under it. • Glide through the tunnel (instructor holds Hula Hoop at varying depths, or uses weights to hold it down). • Students push off the wall and try to glide through it. • Same procedure can be used to get students to dive to the bottom of the pool (put ring at bottom of pool, right next to the hula hoop). • Extension: glide under the bridge and kick through the tunnel.

Front Crawl: Touch your arm-pit: • Touch your arm pit with your thumb • Then go up & over the water, like a rainbow (“Rainbow Arms”)
Lateral Rolls with Noodle: – Hold the end of the noodle with hands above head. – Noodle goes under back, while student lies on it. – Hold the other end between calves/ankles.
